In this video, Mike goes beyond the cheesesteak, to the place locals in-the-know go for the best sandwich in Philadelphia: John's Roast Pork. Made with slow roasted pork shoulder, garlicky greens and sharp provolone cheese, all piled on an incomparable local semolina bun, it's a sandwich lover's dream. As this dish was created by Abruzzese immigrants, Mike looks to that region's signature grape for a pairing: Montepulciano. In this case, a young Montepulciano d'Abruzzo that showcases the grape's fresh cherry flavor and easygoing personality, with enough acidity and tannin to match the rich, salty flavors of the sandwich.
